Susan van Duijkeren - Gerritsen

Sinds 1996 begon ik serieus met schilder- en tekenlessen bij de Werkschuit in De Bilt. Met plezier maak ik abstracte werken maar ook modeltekenen en - schilderen hebben mijn bijzondere voorkeur.

Na een workshop 'monotype' ontdekte ik daarvan de mogelijkheden; deze techniek kan goed gebruikt worden als onderlaag voor heel divers werk. Ik zoek steeds naar de mooiste combinatie van een figuur of model met daarnaast een 'abstract effect'; soms gecombineerd met het gebruik van zelfgemaakte (mono)- prints, papier, knipsels, kranten of zand.

Ik werk met houtskool, potlood, pastel en acrylverf. Vaak in de kleuren oranje, rood, aardetinten, oker, crème en turquoise.

Sinds 2013 volg ik de cursus modelschilderen bij de Gooise Academie in Laren. Vooral de model standen van 5 of 10 minuten en het werken met acrylverf en inkt blijven telkens bijzonder uitdagend!

Susan has been painting since 1996; she started seriously with painting and drawing lessons at the Werkschuit in De Bilt. With pleasure she is engaged in abstract work on the one hand, but she also prefers model drawing and painting. After a workshop 'monotype', Susan discovered the possibilities; this technique can be used well as underlay for various work. She is always looking for the best combination of a figure or model with an 'abstract effect'; sometimes combined with the use of paper, clippings, newspapers or sand.

She works with pencil, charcoal, pastel and acrylic paint, preferably she works in the colors orange, red, earth tones, ocer, cream and turquoise.

At the moment she is following a model painting course at the Gooise Academy in Laren. Especially the model positions of 5 or 10 minutes and working with acrylic paint and ink are always very challenging! Paintings can be seen - by appointment - in her studio in Bilthoven.
